So we are now at 13 ½ weeks since I planted the pumpkin seeds. I no longer have a back yard, and the vines started invading my patio about 2 weeks ago. Since I am no longer able to even pick my way through 99% of my back yard, taking pictures and getting a count of exactly how many pumpkins I have has become nearly impossible. At this time I can count 9 Giant Atlantics, 2 Big Max, 3 Jack-o-Lanterns and 8 Luminas. Mind you that these are just the ones that I can see from my patio, or that I know are there from previous ventures into the “patch.” I will continue to do my very best at updating my blog with current pictures and weight/size estimates.
Above are pictures that I was able to take with my cell phone yesterday, 7/25. The “soda can” pumpkin is now approx. 6 ½ weeks old and weighs an estimated 100 lbs. It is no longer our largest pumpkin, it has been surpassed by a pumpkin that is about 4 ½ weeks. I am not able to get a good picture of the larger pumpkin because I simply can’t get close enough. The other pumpkin picture is of a “new” pumpkin that is about 1 ½ weeks old. It is already the size of your average Jack-o-Lantern. I can hardly wait for Halloween.
